In 2003, SP4 Addisu served with the 38th Engineer Company and deployed for Operation Iraqi Freedom. While serving with the 38th ENG CO., he was issued this modified DCU coat. Note that unlike the other coats shown here, there are no lower pockets and the pockets are now worn on the sleeve. This coat was manufactured like this and was not a theater modification.
The 38th ENG CO was deactivated in 2003 and he was assigned to the 502nd ENG CO., 130th Engineer Brigade which then deployed to Southwest Asia. While in Kuwait, Addisu had his name embroidered in English and Arabic to the back of his boonie hat.

LTC Proper served as a nurse at Abu Graib, Iraq in 2004 with the 801st Combat Support Hospital. During her tour, she came under a heavy mortar attack in which 22 Iraqi prisoners were killed and 92 American and Iraqis were wounded.

" The mission of "Task Force Indy," as they're called, is to manage life support for more than 50,000 American and multi-national Coalition soldiers, Department of Defense civilians and contractors on Victory Base Complex, a string of camps surrounding Baghdad International Airport."
In the photo shown below, the men and women of the 38th DISCOM show their support for the Indianapolis Colts in the 2007 Super Bowl.
The 38th DISCOM was activated for Operation Iraqi Freedom in May, 2006 and released in November, 2007.

Sergeant David M. Triplett

SGT Triplett enlisted in the Army in 1996 and first served with the 82nd Airborne Division and the 25th Infantry Divsion before joining the Indiana Army National Guard. In 2003, he was with the 76th Infantry Brigade when it was deployed to the Middle East and took part in the early fighting during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
