Over 175,000 Hoosiers served during the Vietnam War era.  In 1968, Company D (Ranger), 151st Infantry Regiment, part of the Indiana Army National Guard deployed to South Vietnam to conduct long range reconnaissance missions, becoming the only National Guard combat unit deployed to Vietnam.
