The Naval Avionics Center in Indianapolis developed ordnance technology, including the missle technology used during the Gulf War. Originally known as Indianapolis Naval Ordnance Plant, during WWII it was the leading producer of the Nordon bomb sight.
The base closed in 1995 and was purchased by Raytheon Technologies.
